"ACT Now! Reduce Crashes in Virginia."
June 11-13, 2008 • Portsmouth, Virginia
Last year, over 300 law enforcement officers, transportation safety advocates, local and state government officials, and other individuals attended the ACTS conference in Chesterfield County to get "Back to Basics" in transportation safety. This year’s conference — themed "ACT Now! Reduce Crashes in Virginia." — focuses on saving lives by preventing crashes in the first place.
In 2007, Virginia experienced a high number of transportation-related fatalities — over 1,000. Training sessions at this year's conference will address ways we can reduce the number of crashes and fatalities in 2008 by covering such topics as new transportation safety initiatives, driver distraction, crash investigation, driving under the influence, boating safety and young drivers. A variety of exhibits will also be presented to showcase state-of-the-art safety resources in the ongoing effort to reduce crashes in Virginia.
